BARNHILL James V. Barnhill, Sr., age 66, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at his Gahanna residence after a long battle with cancer.
Veteran USAF. Graduate of The Ohio State University in 1972. Also graduated from the Columbus Police Academy in 1972 and served the Columbus Community for 6 years as an auxiliary officer. Former Board member of the Gahanna Chamber of Commerce, and served as a Trustee for the Community Investment Corp. (CIC). He began roofing in 1960 and opened his own business in 1962. In 1994 he became a Certified Remodeler thru the University of Illinois. In 1995 he won a NARI Contractor of the year award.
Preceded in death by son James V. Barnhill, Jr., daughter Sherry Gueli, grandson Michael Barnhill and brother Doris Barnhill.
Survived by his wife of 47 years, Fay Capshaw Barnhill; parents, Carl and Flossie Barnhill; son, Charlie (Lee) Barnhill; son-in-law, John Gueli; grandchildren, Allison, Brendan Barnhill, Ethan Cox, Ryan, Cody and Cara Gueli, Marsha and Cayce Barnhill; brothers, Bob (Bonnie) Ken (Kathy) and Ronald (Trixie) Barnhill; nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, with Mr. Terry Smith, officiating. Interment Mifflin Township Cemetery.
